Carol
Carol's Yoga Journey
I will start by telling you a little bit about myself, I was born in 1971 and have lived in Townsville all my life. I found Yoga about three and a half years ago, in April 2005. After the birth of my second son, I needed a way to get back into shape, I also needed to find a way to relax. Yoga was the answer for me. It had everything I needed and more.
After practicing yoga 2 years I wanted to know more about the other aspects Yoga has to offer. My teacher, Jasmine encouraged me to do a Yoga Teacher Training course. I have enjoyed doing the 9 month course, and found there is so much to know, you can spend a lifetime studying it. I intend to do more study in the years to come. The teachers who truly inspired me are my very own teachers Jasmine and Steven. While doing the course I found I was drawn to the teachings of Erich Schiffmann and T.K.V. Desikachar, I have read their books many times and find their style of teaching very interesting.
I love Yoga! It has become part of my life, now and forever. The thing that is so amazing about being able to teach Yoga is, I’m going to teach others something that I love. I hope to give my students the physical benefits as well as relaxing their bodies and minds. To be able to do something you love everyday is a gift that I will treasure forever. I am blessed to be a teacher at the Harmony Centre on Friday nights. - Namas

Jasmine Healy-Pagan RYT, BEd
Yoga is an ancient system of self-study for those of us who wish to live life feeling balanced, vibrant and with peace. My love for Yoga began in 1997 when I was living and working in New York City. I believe that yoga finds us when we are ready to learn more deeply about ourselves. Our commitment to our yoga asana practice can change considerably from year to year. As our lives change, so can our yoga journey. Many people have told me how they once tried yoga and that they didn't like it or that they just couldn't do it. I too tried yoga many times before I found a style of yoga that suited my needs and then it was years before I started to understand how yoga is a complete system for living. Like our favourite tastes in a world full of variety, yoga also comes to us in a range of styles from a variety of teachers. When we find a yoga teacher that connects with our needs, it is then that our amazing yoga journey begins! . May you discover many connections to bring you inspiration, awareness and balance throughout the year. ~ namaste, Jasmine Healy-Pagan

Kerry Spina
Flow Yoga - Hatha - heart and soul
Style of Kerry's class
My classes are fluid with breath, strength, flexibility, balance, motion and stillness and are set to upbeat and mood moving music with lots of inspirational energy. The intentions for my Yoga classes are to take the energy of the group and move towards a higher level, melting limits and bringing awareness to all parts of the body and mind. The metaphysics of Yoga continues to guide me in my life and I love to share this element. Classes are fun and challenging, but taught from a place of safety so that students can shine in their space on the mat. With my shared love of music and Yoga I am in my very own heaven on earth. Chanting and music influence my Yoga classes and within each term we explore and discover either a yoga chant or dance sequence to compliment our Yoga experience and our mind body connection. While people often comment they can't dance or sing, it is a great opportunity to break the barriers that you limit yourself with and just dare try.
Kerry's Yoga Journey
My journey into Yoga has been as exciting and adventurous as the rest of my life. I have been practicing Yoga on and off for the past 10 years. I originally attended a Yoga class in Townsville when I first came to town 15 years ago. It was a 6 weeks beginners class which I only attended one week and did not return to yoga for another 5 years later. Yoga has been something I have always admired from afar and never really felt quite right when doing it. It is only in the last 5 years that I have found my peace love and joy with Yoga. I truly believe that yoga is for everyone. The thing that frightened me away all those years ago and what frightens many people away from yoga is that they think they need to be flexible. I consider myself quite inflexible (this is not a judgment merely a statement) and I am a yoga teacher however I love it, I love how it balances my mind, gives me a fantastic work out and releases emotional blockages and it also gives me time to be and allows me the skill of not judging myself to be anything other than who I am. My wish is that anyone who thinks just for one second that they would like try yoga – that they do!! That they give it time and give there body a chance to feel comfortable again, allowing themselves the opportunity to live more peacefully with good health and grace.
